Delete Your Account

Last updated: August 2, 2026

This page explains how to delete your SmokiesApp account, published by Smokies App, LLC, and what happens to your data when you do.

Request account deletion

In the app: open SmokiesApp, go to Profile, scroll to the bottom of the settings list, and tap Delete Account. Confirm when prompted. Deletion happens immediately.

By email: if you cannot sign in, no longer have the app, or would rather we handle it, email us from the address on your account.

Email privacy@smokiesapp.com

Deleting in the app

  1. Open SmokiesApp and sign in if you are not already signed in.
  2. Go to Profile.
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the settings list.
  4. Tap Delete Account.
  5. Read the confirmation, then tap Delete.

Your account is deleted right away and you are returned to the sign-in screen. This cannot be undone, and we cannot restore a deleted account.

The option appears only when you are signed in to a real account. If you are browsing as a guest, see Using the app without an account below.

Requesting deletion by email

Send your request to privacy@smokiesapp.com and include:

  • The email address on your SmokiesApp account, ideally by sending from that address.
  • Your display name in the app, if you know it.
  • Whether you want your account deleted, or only specific content removed.

We may need to verify your identity before we act, so that nobody can delete someone else’s account. We aim to confirm receipt within five (5) business days and to complete the deletion within thirty (30) days, and in any case within the time required by applicable law. You may use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf.

We will not charge you or treat you differently for asking.

What we delete

When your account is deleted, we permanently delete:

  • Your account and sign-in credentials, including the link to Apple or Google sign-in
  • Your email address and display name
  • Your profile photo
  • Your saved and favorited items, trips, and preferences
  • Your last known location
  • Your push notification tokens, which ends all notifications from us
  • Your notification history and the identifying details inside it

What we keep, and why

Some information is not deleted with your account. We would rather say so plainly than bury it.

Kept without your name attached. Your community posts, comments, reactions, community tips, deal redemption logs (with precise location removed), referral attribution, and Coby conversations remain, but are pseudonymized. They are no longer linked to your name, profile, or account, and they show an anonymous author. We keep them so that conversations, trail and road reports, and business tips other people relied on do not vanish from the app.

Trust and safety. A limited record of reports, blocks, and enforcement actions is kept for up to two (2) years, to prevent abuse, to comply with the law, and to enforce our Terms of Service.

Feedback and support. Feedback and support messages you sent us may be kept for support history, product improvement, and legal recordkeeping.

Business records. If you claimed or managed a business listing, the listing itself and the record of the verification decision remain, because they belong to the business rather than to you personally.

Analytics. Aggregated and de-identified usage data that can no longer be tied to you is retained.

Backups. Copies of deleted data may persist in encrypted backups until they age out of our routine backup rotation, after which they are overwritten.

Legal holds. If we are legally required to preserve information, for example because of a subpoena or an active dispute, we retain it for as long as that obligation lasts.

Deleting some data without deleting your account

You do not have to delete your whole account to remove things:

  • Delete your own posts and comments at any time from the app.
  • Delete individual Coby conversations from the Coby screen.
  • Change your display name or replace your profile photo from your profile.
  • Turn off location, notifications, camera, or photo access in your device settings.
  • Ask us at privacy@smokiesapp.com to correct information or to remove specific content.

Using the app without an account

You can browse SmokiesApp as a guest. Guest use has no account to delete, so there is no Delete Account option. Removing the app clears the guest session on your device. If guest activity was later merged into an account you created, deleting that account covers it.

Your other privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to access your information, to correct it, to receive a portable copy, and to appeal a decision we make about your request. Our Privacy Policy describes those rights and how to exercise them. Requests go to the same address: privacy@smokiesapp.com.
